Journal #1

Microsystem:
  • My family consists of two distinct parts, to me. My Dad's (Rod Davis) side, and my Mom's (Nicki White) side. My Mom's side consists of my immediate family (who I live with) which includes: My mom, my stepdad, my brother, my sister, and at that time my mom was pregnant with my littlest sister. The only other family on her side was her mother and a small portion of my stepdad's family. Everyone else is decesed. On my dad's side was my dad's parents, or my grandparents (Who basically raised me like my parents) and my dad's sister, my aunt jenny. My dad at the time, was divorced.
  • I am recalling being in sixth grade. I would have been eleven. I had five subjects in middle school: Reading, Math, Science, Gym, and Technology.
  • My peer group consisted of my best friend Taylor and Olivia. I did not have that many friends, I was very shy.
  • The media that influenced me, at that time, was very limited. My parents were very religious and I was not allowed to read/listen to a lot of things. I liked contemporary christian music and I read mainly christian books, aside from what I was assigned to read for school.
  • My surrounding community was Okeechobee. The cow town of the world. (Just kidding.)

Mesosystem:
  • My parents interacted with my peer group very well. They were the youth group leaders for my church, and most of my peers came. Everyone loved my parents.
  • My parents did not interact very much with my school. My parents were not a part of any activities the school put on.
  • Most school projects I worked on alone. My parents never really got involved with any of my schoolwork.
  • I was never involved in any school activities because my mom had other kids to take care of. She would not be able to pick me up from practices or clubs.
Excosystem:
  • My stepdad is a contractor. My mom is a homemaker. My real dad is a chiropractor. My stepmom is an attorney.
  • For two years in a row, around that time, we went to Colorado to ski, and every summer for almost ten years we went to the keys to snorkel and fish.
  • My "real parents" were never married, so they did not need a divorce. Although, my dad got divorced form his first wive. I like to think if her as the "evil stepmother".
Macrosystem:
  • My grandma, I call her Nanny, told me that our heritage is Irish and native american. I am not sure of any other heritage.
  • I am a christian by religious affiliation.
  • I lived with my mom my whole life in an urban setting.
  • My family has always been middle class.
  • Around that time in my life 911 happened.
Chronosystem:

Human Development

I have been assigned a journal for my Human Development class. The last time I kept a blog as a journal for a class I found the experience quite meaningful, so I plan to try that again :)

-Enjoy
